SnowVillage, magic of Lapland with unforgettable experiences
Lapland Hotels SnowVillage is a unique tourist attraction made of snow and ice, located in Lainio, Kittilä – almost 200km north of the Arctic Circle.
“SnowVillage is a unique snowy expanse of about two hectares, made of over 20 million kilograms of snow and approximately 300,000 kilograms of crystal-clear natural ice,” describes Maria Astrén, Destination manager at Lapland Hotels SnowVillage.
“The Snow Village features for instance magnificent ice and snow sculptures, a snow suite, an ice restaurant and an ice bar. The Snow Village is rebuilt from scratch every year in November and it delights its visitors with an annually changing theme. The theme for the 2024–2025 winter season has been “Underwater World”, and this is our 24th exhibition”, Maria continues.
Lapland Hotels SnowVillage is visited by 500-1500 people every day, and over 80,000 people from all over the world every year. SnowVillage is open to the public from late December to early April.

SnowVillage is part of the Lapland Hotels chain, having its heart and roots in Lapland. The Lapland Hotels family includes 20 unique hotels, located both at the rugged wilderness landscapes in Finnish Lapland and at the heart of the southernmost Finnish cities.

Lapland Hotels SnowVillage offers not only a unique snow and ice world, but also unforgettable Lappish culinary experiences. There are 3 different restaurants in SnowVillage. The atmospheric log restaurant Krouvi serves a tasty soup lunch and delicious café products. The modern glass restaurant offers lunch during the day and an à la carte menu and a Lapland buffet in the evenings. In the ice restaurant, customers can enjoy a 3-course Lapland-themed dinner – in an enchanting setting built of ice and snow.

Efficiency with good kitchen design and the right equipment choices
“Our kitchen serves a total of three restaurants at the same time, so workflow efficiency and organization are at the heart of everything. The starting point for our kitchen renovation in 2024 was to have reliable and energy-efficient equipment that is easy to use – and that can serve the needs of our various restaurants. And since our kitchen is fairly compact, it was essential to design a functional space with enough room for different equipment and functions,” says Maria.
