Whether for drinking, bathing, or a variety of other uses, water is the world’s most essential natural resource. It’s easy to take it for granted, though the WWF indicates that two thirds of the world’s population may face water shortages by 2025.
With this in mind, decreasing water consumption in both our personal and professional lives is key to a sustainable future. At Electrolux Professional Group, we’re committed to helping laundry professionals minimize their water consumption through a range of market-leading innovations.
Savings on dead water
All Electrolux Professional commercial washers use a unique drain valve assembly, with a smaller basin compared to equivalent models. This means that the basin does not have to fill up with water completely for each pre-wash, wash, and rinse, resulting in significant savings on ‘dead water’.
With the unique design of drain valve, Electrolux Professional washers are able to reduce dead water by 90% compared to an equivalent washer from other brands. As an example, an 8kg’s Electrolux Professional washer can save approximately 8 liters of water for a normal wash cycle compared to a competitor washer of the same capacity. Therefore, one washer can save 240,000 liters of water throughout its lifetime!
Water savings for every load
Our Line 6000 Washers range is equipped with a host of operational functions to reduce water consumption with minimum effort from the operator. We understand that loading the machine fully for every single cycle isn’t always possible, which is where the Automatic Savings and Integrated Savings innovations come in. These innovations adjust the water intake in line with the actual load, meaning that not a drop of water is wasted. With Automatic Savings and Integrated Savings innovations, Electrolux Professional can deliver a 40% reduction in water consumption on washers compared to equivalent competitor models – all at no extra time or effort from the operator.
The Integrated Savings innovation doesn’t only measure the weight of the load in real time, but also display the load capacity on the ClarusVibe display. This allows operators to avoid underloading or overloading the machine, while maintaining optimal results for each wash.
Water saving is in our DNA
As a company, we are committed to reducing our water consumption year-on-year through both our business operations and laundry solutions. Each iteration of our commercial washing machine range has been able to benefit from lower water consumption than the last, with the Line 6000 allowing us to consume 50% less water than we did in 2000.
The move to safeguard the planet’s water will not happen overnight, nor will one innovation prove the sole solution. However, through intelligent specification of appliances, laundry managers can help play their part in minimizing water consumption.
